Yuri Bashmet

NOVATEK has always placed a special emphasis on the support of cultural organizations and has been an ongoing supporter of the arts through contributions to programs at the Russian State Museum, the Samara Artistic Museum, the Moscow Kremlin Museum and the Tsaritsino Estate Museum and Moscow House of Photography.

The Company has also served as a general sponsor of the Russian exposition at the Venice Biennale that takes place once every two years in Venice, Italy. The Venice Biennale is one of the oldest international contemporary art exhibitions dating back to 1895 and is generally recognized as a forum to present innovative trends in modern and contemporary art.

The 2009 Biennale represented the works of artists from 77 countries, including Russia. The Russian Pavilion’s exposition was titled “Victory Over the Future” and included the works of famous Russian masters of contemporary art working in various mediums: painting, sculpture and installations.

NOVATEK also acts as a general partner and sponsor of the Chamber Ensemble “Moscow Soloists” (whose art director, conductor and main soloist is Yuri Bashmet). The ensemble made its debut on 19 May 1992 at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and then on 21 May of the same year at the Salle Playel in Paris, France. Since then, the ensemble has performed to great acclaim at many famed and prestigious music venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Barbican Hall in London, the Tivoli in Copenhagen and the Berlin Philharmonic.
