NOVATEK-Polimer is the core subsidiary in our industrial manufacturing business segment. Headquartered in the city of Novokuybyshevsk in the Samara Region, it is the largest Russian producer of anti-corrosive insulating materials used on underground pipelines in the oil and gas industry. It produces more than a dozen types of polyethylene‑based insulating tape, including polymer tape and wrap, heat-shrinkable tape and sleeves to protect welded pipe joints.
Although BOPP film production is not our core business, we continued to expand its production and operated the plant at approximately 90% of capacity in 2008 providing exceptional growth in both revenues and volumes. We see our diversification into film wrap production as complementary and value-additive to our overall strategy in the industrial manufacturing sector and a way of offsetting fluctuations in demand for pipe insulation materials.
