Project Cryogas-Vysotsk

Cryogas-Vysotsk

Cryogas-Vysotsk is our first medium-scale LNG production project

Cryogas-Vysotsk medium-scale LNG project is located in the port of Vysotsk, the Leningrad Region (Baltic Sea).  The project capacity is 660,000 t per annum and its infrastructure also includes a 42,000 m3 LNG storage tank and an offloading terminal designed to handle LNG carriers with a capacity of up to 30,000 m3. NOVATEK acquired a 51% participation interest in Cryogas-Vysotsk in July 2017.

In April 2019, Cryogas-Vysotsk commenced full-scale production of liquefied natural gas (LNG). During the official ceremony at the port of Vysotsk, Russian President Vladimir Putin has formally started the Cryogas-Vysotsk LNG project, the first medium-scale LNG project in the Baltic region.

In order to increase the design capacity of the plant from the current 660 mt to 820 mt of LNG per year, we begun the construction of a booster compressor station with a capacity of 2.5 MW. At the end of 2022, working documentation was being developed, orders for basic equipment were placed.

Sales

  • Russian domestic market
  • Baltic, Scandinavian and North-European markets
  • Loading of bunker vessels and selling LNG as a motor fuel

We see vast prospects in using LNG as marine fuel and motor fuel to substitute for fuel oil and diesel, that will contribute to decreasing emissions and improving the environment.

Cryogas-Vysotsk project demonstrated strong operational results during 2022, operating at 107% of its nameplate capacity, and produced 707 thousand ton of LNG.
