NOVATEK and Atomflot sign Cooperation Agreement

Moscow, 02 February 2011. OAO NOVATEK (“NOVATEK” and/or “the Company”) First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Mikhail Popov, and the General Director of the Russian Federation’s Atomflot (Atomflot), Vladimir Ruksha, signed a Сooperation Agreement (Agreement) establishing the framework for the development of reliable and safe transportation solutions for the Yamal peninusla and Northern Sea Route.
 
The signed Agreement calls for cooperation between the two companies in the following areas:
 
1. Joint development of reliable supply routes for the delivery of materials and technological infrastructure necessary for the construction of surface facilities at NOVATEK’s fields in the Yamal peninsula;
2. Joint participation in the development of NOVATEK’s pilot LNG project on the Yamal peninsula through the analysis and organization of LNG transport using Atomflot’s nuclear icebreakers; and
3. Provision of nuclear icebreaker escorts for the transportation of NOVATEK’s stable gas condensate using ice class tankers from the Port of Vitino to ports in the Asian-Pacific Region via the Northern Sea Route in 2011.
 

 


PAO NOVATEK is one of the largest independent natural gas producers in Russia, and in 2017, entered the global LNG market by successfully launching the Yamal LNG project. Founded in 1994, the Company is engaged in the exploration, production, processing and marketing of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons.
