NOVATEK and the YNAO develop cooperation in 2010

Salekhard, 24 May 2010. The Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region (“YNAO”) Dmitry Kobylkin and OAO NOVATEK (“NOVATEK” and/or the “Company”) CEO Leonid Mikhelson have signed an amendment to the 2009 - 2011 Cooperation Agreement.

The amended document is aimed at further development of the YNAO economy and provides a framework for the Company’s cooperation with municipal entities of the YNAO throughout 2010 including; participation in social projects and programs pertaining to the cultural, educational, health, housing and public utility sectors. The document also envisages activities aimed at preserving the unique way of life and cultural traditions of the indigenous minorities of the Far North. NOVATEK has taken an active role in supporting the social and cultural development of the communities where the Company operates, and has throughout the years provided assistance to the YNAO and indigenous peoples of the Far North.

NOVATEK has also presented its mid-term development plans to the YNAO Administration and to representatives of its municipal entities.


PAO NOVATEK is one of the largest independent natural gas producers in Russia, and in 2017, entered the global LNG market by successfully launching the Yamal LNG project. Founded in 1994, the Company is engaged in the exploration, production, processing and marketing of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons. Upstream activities of the Company’s subsidiaries and joint ventures are concentrated mainly in the prolific Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, which is the world’s largest natural gas producing area and accounts for approximately 80% of Russia’s natural gas production and approximately 15% of the world’s gas production.
