NOVATEK signs Cooperation Agreement with Tyumen region

Tyumen, 8 February 2012. OAO NOVATEK (“NOVATEK” and/or the “Company”) and the Administration of the Tyumen region (the “Region”) have signed a Cooperation Agreement (the “Agreement”) for the period from 2012 to 2015. The Agreement was signed by the Chairman of NOVATEK’s Management Board, Leonid Mikhelson, and the Region’s Governor, Vladimir Yakushev.
 
In accordance with the Agreement and the social and economic development of the Region, NOVATEK will contribute to the development of scientific resources and youth sports programs as well as improving the Region’s investment and economic climate.
 
During the signing of the Agreement, Mr. Mikhelson noted that “the Region is very important for NOVATEK due to the fact that our Scientific and Research Center, which is responsible for coordinating all of the Company’s exploration activities, is located here. Also, many NOVATEK employees studied in Tyumen which is why we are interested in the further development of the sciences and general education in this region and we plan to further strengthen and improve our relations.”

PAO NOVATEK is one of the largest independent natural gas producers in Russia, and in 2017, entered the global LNG market by successfully launching the Yamal LNG project. Founded in 1994, the Company is engaged in the exploration, production, processing and marketing of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons. Upstream activities of the Company’s subsidiaries and joint ventures are concentrated mainly in the prolific Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, which is the world’s largest natural gas producing area and accounts for approximately 80% of Russia’s natural gas production and approximately 15% of the world’s gas production. NOVATEK is a public joint stock company established under the laws of the Russian Federation.
