NOVATEK’s Sustainability Report is the most comprehensive, core document describing the Company’s efforts to ensure sustainable development and disclosing information about the Company’s economic, social and environmental performance as well as its approaches to corporate governance and economic, social and environmental dimensions.

NOVATEK’s Sustainability Report is prepared in accordance with GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards as well as the Oil & Gas Exploration & Production Sustainability Accounting Standard of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). The report is also aligned with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) with detailed information on the Group’s approach to climate change and climate risk management.

Environmental and climate change targets

On 25 August 2020, the Board of Directors of PAO NOVATEK approved the following environmental and climate change targets for the period up to 2030:

UN Sustainable Development Goals

NOVATEK shares the global ambition to achieve the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and, as part of the business community – a key potential contributor to the SDGs, we are committed to aligning and stepping up our sustainability efforts accordingly.

In 2019, NOVATEK selected five priority UN Sustainable Development Goals that the Company will do its best to achieve. Among them are following goals: SDG 3 Good health and well-being, SDG 4 Quality education, SDG 7 Affordable and clean energy, SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth, and SDG 13 Climate action. Fourteen UN SDGs are aligned with the main principles of NOVATEK’s Sustainable Development Strategy.

In 2020, we selected UN SDG targets and developed our own performance targets that will help achieve the maximum cumulative effect by 2030.
