NOVATEK actively supports regional development by engaging with local communities and delivering social and economic projects. All these efforts contribute to a better quality of life for local residents and improved well-being across the Company’s footprint.

NOVATEK substantially contributes to improving the quality of life for local populations within its footprint by running and facilitating social projects that aim to support local communities and preserve the cultural traditions of indigenous peoples. The bulk of the expenses are related to projects in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region; however, the Company also finances social projects in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region, the Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Leningrad, Murmansk, and Kostroma Regions as well as the Kamchatka Territory.

NOVATEK has a system of engaging with local communities in place to effectively implement social and charity projects, with all management levels of PAO NOVATEK involved in the decision making related to external social policy. The Remuneration and Nomination Committee of the Board of Directors is responsible for these efforts. At its meetings, the Committee reviews the Report on PAO NOVATEK’s Social and Charitable Activities in the Regions of Operation, in addition to other matters, on an annual basis. The Chairman of the Management Board is responsible for engagement with local communities. At the business unit level, designated officers are responsible for stakeholder engagement.
