Supporting Education
For many years, NOVATEK has been providing school and university students across its footprint with a wide range of learning opportunities. This includes investing in educational programs and providing places for internships at its enterprises followed by offers of employment at the Company.
NOVATEK-University program
Host regions/cities:
- Novokuybyshevsk (Samara Region);
- Tarko-Sale (Purovsky District, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region);
- Tyumen (Tyumen Region);
- Salekhard (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region);
- Murmansk (Murmansk Region).
Highlights:
- program students study at a large number of Russian universities;
- program students interned at Company enterprises; and
- program graduates are hired by Company enterprises.
For several years, the Company has been successfully running the NOVATEK-University program to make more effective use of university resources so as to better prepare students for their future work. The program provides high-quality training to university students in key areas of expertise for the Company’s operations, thus fostering young talent to meet the Company’s needs.
Grants program for schoolchildren and teachers
Host regions/cities:
- Purovsky District, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region (from 2004 for school students and from 2008 for teachers);
- Murmansk (from 2024).
Highlights:
- the Company’s spending on the program increased in 2024 due to the launch of the program in Murmansk and the indexation of payments;
- grants are being awarded to school students and teachers.
Our Grants program for schoolchildren is aimed at fostering academic success and creativity, and encourages local students to take their studies seriously. Grants have been awarded since 2004 on a competitive basis to 5th up to 11th grade students actively engaged in olympiads, competitions, and tournaments of different levels in mathematics, physics, computer science, and chemistry.
Through its grant program for teachers, the Company contributes to raising the profile of the teaching as a profession and helps develop future talents.
Gifted Children program
Host regions/cities:
- Samara Region;

- Tyumen (Tyumen Region).
Highlights:
- school students were offered an opportunity to prepare for the Unified State Examination at the Shkolkovo online school and the online school of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University;
- three trips were organized: to a physics and mathematics school in Tyumen, the GEOSMENA Young Russian Geologists summer camp, and the NOVATEK Is a Family festival.
The Gifted Children program supported by NOVATEK sets up dedicated physics and mathematics classes where students follow a tailored enhanced program. Students visit various events and sites (including the Company’s production assets), which provide them with detailed insights into engineering professions while dispelling their stereotypes and expanding their understanding of the industry.
In 2024, the Industrial University of Tyumen and NOVATEK STC partnered to launch the first open school in Russia focused on digital technologies in oil and gas geology for school students in grades 7–11. The training program began with an online module, followed by an in-person second module held in Tyumen for students who completed the first module. School students visited industrial enterprises, took part in dedicated seminars, studied software applied by geologists and engineers, worked on a themed case study, and used the knowledge gained to prepare and present their own projects.
The school’s 2024 highlights:
The first module was taken by school students from 14 regions of Russia, including the Tyumen Region, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region, and the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region, with a total of 25 participants advancing to the finals.
