Education
For years, NOVATEK has been developing its continuing education program, which enables the Company to recruit highly qualified and educated youth from the regions of our operation.
NOVATEK runs educational programs in its regions of operation on an ongoing basis to help children, young people and teachers on the one hand, and on the other, to attract talent for the Company, building NOVATEK’s talent pool to support our future growth.
Gifted Children program
Recruitment and career guidance for potential future employees start with the Gifted Children program implemented at School No. 8 in Novokuybyshevsk, school No. 2 in Tarko-Sale, school No. 81 in Tyumen, and school No. 2 in Salekhard, as well as secondary schools in the Samara and Murmansk regions.
Special classes are formed on a competitive basis from the most talented grade 10 and 11 students with above-average test scores.
The educational program encompasses additional subjects and career guidance site visits to NOVATEK enterprises. In line with the agreement between NOVATEK and HSE University, all students can take in-depth courses to prepare for the Unified State Examination at the Shkolkovo online school.
Profile training of school students
As part of the implementation of the NOVATEK’s Gifted Children program, a resource center for industry-relevant student training — the Natural Science Center was opened in Tarko—Sale, Purovsky District, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, designed to develop the intellectual and scientific potential of children aged 5 to 18 years. The Center offers classes for school students of 5th-11th grades in the subjects: chemistry, biology and physics. Activities in all subjects include solving of problems at an advanced level and training of school students for national contests and competitions.
The Energy School educational project
In 2021, the Company launched the Energy School educational project, targeting students in grades 8 through 11 from the Purovsky and Tazovsky Districts, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region. The main project goal is to provide students with career guidance in the energy industry.
Classes are held at a NOVATEK office, and students from remote communities can join via video call. The program also includes on-site workshops and hands-on classes at Tazovsky Secondary School. Students listen to presentations by geologists, construction engineers, environmental engineers, employees of the Chief Engineer’s service for communication and automated control systems, as well as mechanics, chemical laboratory assistants, and other Company specialists. In addition to classes, students work on their own projects in energy saving, environmental protection, geology, security, IT and landscaping.
Grants Programs for schoolchildren and teachers
The Company also continues implementing two Grants programs for schoolchildren and teachers living in the Purovsky District of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region.
The Grants program for schoolchildren is aimed at academic and creative development and encouraging a responsible attitude towards studies. Under the program, pupils of 5th-11th grades are awarded grants from the Company.
The Grants program for teachers is intended to raise the prestige of the teaching profession and create favorable conditions for developing new and talented teachers.
The NOVATEK-University program
In an effort to create conditions for more effective use of university and college resources in preparing students for future professional activities, the Company successfully implements the NOVATEK-University program. The program is an action plan for focused, high-quality training for specialists with higher education in key areas of expertise in order to grow the Company’s business and meet its needs for young specialists. The program is based at the Saint-Petersburg University of Mines, the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas in Moscow and the Tyumen Industrial University.
Students who have passed their exams with good and excellent results receive additional monthly payments. During their studies, the students are offered paid internships. This experience allows them to apply the knowledge obtained at lectures and seminars to real-life situations and gain experience in the professions they have chosen, while the Company receives an opportunity to meet potential employees.
