Diversity and Inclusion
The Company values diversity of opinion and experience among our employees, as outlined in NOVATEK’s Human Rights Policy. The Company does not tolerate any kind of discrimination, whether based on gender, race, religion, physical abilities, or political affiliation. When recruiting, hiring, training, establishing job duties, wages, and promotions, the Company takes into account the qualifications, performance, skills, and experience of each person and adheres to the equal opportunity principle, without any bias.
Diversity matters, along with other aspects of the HR policy, are included in the agenda of meetings of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee of the Board of Directors.
To employ people with disabilities, the Company cooperates with regional employment centers and centers for people with disabilities, which recruit candidates even in remote regions.
If the number of new hires with disabilities is not sufficient to meet the employment quota, NOVATEK signs employment agreements with other employers.
NOVATEK strives to ensure the age diversity of its workforce, paying great attention to young specialists. The Company implements initiatives to attract and retain young talent, from career guidance for school students and mentoring at universities to on-the-job training for students and mentorship for young specialists under the Steps in Discovering Talents program.
Non-discrimination
NOVATEK has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination. Engaging with employees, the Company focuses on their professional qualities and disregards gender, age, race, religion, physical abilities, or political affiliation. NOVATEK adheres to this principle at all stages of labor relations.
To prevent discrimination and to respond in a timely manner to such incidents, NOVATEK has in place grievance mechanisms, including an anonymous hotline.
Gender equality
At NOVATEK, wage rates for women and men are based on equal pay structures. Women working at the Company have the same opportunities for development and career advancement as men.
The gender breakdown at NOVATEK is influenced by the nature of its operations involving work on a rotational basis in severe climatic conditions and geographical remoteness. Nevertheless, the Company strives to maintain a gender balance wherever possible and employs women in positions that imply more comfortable working conditions.
In addition, NOVATEK actively promotes the professional development of its female employees through onboarding and career development programs.
Local hiring
NOVATEK is consistently working to develop local labor markets, giving preference to local candidates when hiring and implementing programs to unlock the potential of local specialists. The proportion of local1 residents employed by the Company varies from region to region.
The Company has employment programs for the indigenous peoples of the Far North — the Regulations on Hiring Members of Indigenous Peoples of the Far North at the Yamal LNG project and the Local Hiring Policy at the Arctic LNG 2 project.
