Work-Related Injuries
NOVATEK is committed to creating and maintaining a working environment that minimizes work-related accident risks and health hazards for employees and contractors working at the Company’s operating facilities.
When identifying operational risks and hazards, the Company adheres to a proactive approach to management that implies early forecasting of negative scenarios and taking preventive steps.
All new operations and projects undergo occupational health and safety risk assessments.
To ensure safe operation and emergency protection of equipment and employees, NOVATEK has developed and is currently implementing a plan to manage the most significant occupational risks, which includes the installation of safety, protective, and warning devices (appliances), in particular, for production equipment when being operated.
All incidents are recorded in a timely manner. Each accident involving employee exposure to work-related health and/or injury hazards is followed by an unscheduled special assessment of working conditions and an assessment of occupational risk.
Incident root cause analysis
In addition to statutory requirements, the Company applies its Incident Root Cause Analysis Standard to internal investigations of incidents. The analysis includes five steps, from recording the circumstances and collecting data to drafting a plan of corrective actions. The main purpose of an internal investigation is to enable a comprehensive review of the events preceding an incident and the implementation of corrective actions to prevent future incidents.

To prevent work-related injuries, NOVATEK also publishes and distributes to employees a report on incidents and accidents as well as remedial and preventive actions, and holds unscheduled briefings and team meetings.

A clear indicator of workplace safety at the Company is LTIFR, which stood at 0.26 in 2024, down 7% year-on-year.

The consistent steps to enhance safety culture have driven steady improvement of this metric over the past four years, proving the Company’s commitment to managing risks and protecting employee health.
Occupational Health
NOVATEK has in place a healthcare management system, which includes organizing emergency medical response, training in first aid, health monitoring, and participating in healthy lifestyle projects. The Company conducts medical examinations of shift workers in the Far North and remote sites to assess their health and detect cases of illegal substance use. Employees undergo in-depth medical examinations in order to diagnose diseases early.
Production sites have medical and paramedical aid posts (including contractor posts) to provide medical assistance to employees, as well as offices for pre-shift examinations. At remote sites, medical aid posts are equipped with in-patient facilities and an intensive-care unit, providing all the necessary medical care for employees and contractors.
Company employees are entitled to medical advice under the Voluntary Health Insurance (VHI) program and have access to health resort treatment and rehabilitation. At workplaces with harmful working conditions, the Company has implemented a set of measures to eliminate or mitigate harmful factors. To prevent occupational diseases, NOVATEK conducts occupational risk assessments.
